The answer is MOTIVE

Quoting Paradox:
"Using the first two puzzle answers of "7" and "2005" respectively, I had tried using the numbers various ways to no avail. Then I just tried something simple and sure enough got something that stuck.

Going 7 letters into the phrase "The worm looks at me with invited eyes" you get the letter M. Going two letters further gets you an O. Skipping the two zero's, going five letters from there gets you a T. Repeating this process gives you the letters I-V-E. I sent in two guesses with the answers "Motive" and "7/25/2005" and was right"
