The answer is: The guitar riff for Jimmy Hendrix "Purple Haze".

Hangman found the answer by using google. This was Hangman's reasoning:

"Classic rock was a huge clue - its music related.
Therefore the numbers relate to music - made the jump from that to thinking classic guitar riffs…. easy from there"

"I've see a similar puzzle somewhere before - to make it easier to remember chords and so forth, people substitute numbers for finger positions - the guitar thing was just a leap of logic from there based on the fact that guitars are in just about all classic rock bands and the riffs are signatures to a song."
